Is the border open now? Real hours of the pedestrian crossing and the vehicle holding area
The Ceuta–Morocco border through Tarajal has two crossings, both open 24 hours. This is the real information verified with local press and the official City of Ceuta app.
| Crossing | Hours | Status now |
|---|---|---|
| Tarajal pedestrians | Open 24 hours | The pedestrian crossing works day and night, including at dawn |
| Tarajal vehicles (Loma Colmenar holding area) | Open 24 hours | Since 1 June 2025 the holding area runs 24 h. Before, between 00:00 and 07:00 vehicles went straight to the border (the crossing never closed) |
In the real-time queue app and in the daily summary each card shows whether the crossing is open or closed right now, with the estimated wait. The top band (the Ceuta flag) turns green, amber or red according to the general border status, and grey if it is closed at that time.
Early morning (0–6 h): best time to cross by vehicle on weekdays: crossing open and no wait (the official figure shows ~0 min).
Midday: a calm window for both crossings on weekdays.
Friday afternoon and Sunday: the worst moments of the week in both directions.
