Steps, documents and tips — on foot or by car, in both directions
Crossing between Ceuta (Spain) and Morocco at the Tarajal crossing involves two border controls, one Spanish and one Moroccan. It's straightforward if you arrive prepared — and much faster if you also arrive at the right hour.

2. Exit control (Spain): have your passport or ID ready.
3. Walk across the fenced corridor to the Moroccan control.
4. Entry control (Morocco): passport stamp, luggage check if requested.
5. On the Moroccan side, taxis and grand taxis to Fnideq and Tétouan are available.

2. Spanish exit control: documents for the driver and all passengers.
3. Moroccan entry control: vehicle papers and insurance check.
4. Your insurance must cover Morocco; if it doesn't, border insurance is sold at the Moroccan customs office.

1. Cross at midday on weekdays — the calmest window.
2. Avoid Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings — the busiest stretches of the week.
3. In summer (OPE season), check the forecast the same day; waits multiply.
